Tingko Beach - Alcoy Cebu

Bus going to Tingko, Alcoy

Tingko Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Cebu—and for good reason! Just a short tricycle ride from Guiwang, where my husband’s family lives, this stunning spot offers crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand, all for free—no entrance or exit fees at all! (Seriously!) You can bring your own food, grill some barbecue, and spend the whole day swimming, relaxing, and even catching tiny fish. The kids absolutely love it!

Tingko Beach, a well-loved destination in Daan Lungsod, Alcoy, Cebu, Philippines, offers a picturesque escape along a deep lagoon facing the coral island known as Mabad-on Reef. This reef completely submerges during high tide and emerges during low tide, separated from the mainland only by a narrow channel. Tingko features a long, curved stretch of powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters, framed by swaying coconut palms and rugged limestone cliffs. Just a few feet from the shore, the seabed gently slopes into deeper waters—perfect for swimming and wading.

Weekends often bring in crowds of locals, visitors from the city, and the occasional foreign traveler, all drawn by the irresistible combination of sun, sea, and sand. Due to its unique geography, the beach undergoes a natural seasonal shift: between late September and early December, sand from the southernmost part of the beach drifts northward, temporarily revealing the rocky seabed—only to be restored by late December.

Adding charm to the beachfront is a row of elegant white houses owned by German nationals who fell in love with the area's beauty and warmth. For visitors, there are cozy cottages—more like mini townhouses—complete with balconies, bedrooms, and clean shower and restroom facilities, all available at budget-friendly rates. A small store with a videoke setup adds a fun, lively atmosphere, and camping is welcome too—just bring a tent for an even more memorable experience under the stars.
